We run lap after lap chasing a clock. We look like complete idiots. No one understands the enjoyment we attain from pushing our lactate threshold. We cover our tiny shorts and compression socks in sweat. We feel like we can’t run another step once training is over. Yet everyday we get up and do it all again.
- breath in for 4 seconds
- hold your breath for 7 seconds
- exhale breath for 8 seconds
repeat once or twice more.
This causes an autonomic nervous system shift from a sympathetic (fight or flight reaction) state to a parasympathetic response.
